I am PHIL DINHAM, a trained creative media talent, having acted as News Director for a couple of programs on WLRN's public radio Miami- Ft Lauderdale. I also have reported and presented news on WAVS- 1170 am in Florida. I started out my service in mediation when I joined the Magazine committee at Jamaica College. Since then I have been awarded Jamaica Gleaner's letter of the Day, this while I was still in High school. As well as outstanding broadcast student award by Dade county public schools -1998.

I have interviewed sportsman Brian Lara when I was just 13, Jimmy Adams,Politician Peter Phillips, and Trevor Munroe, as well as Dj's Jah pickney, Abijah, Tami Chin and Reggae gospel singer Audrey Gordon. My career mentor so far has been award-winning instructor, John Lovell of the Miami Lakes Education Center in the USA. http://www.webcom.com/radioweb/jlresume.html the link for John Lovell

My role models so far have been the late Michael Manley. An Jamaica College Old boy, Manley I thought was ahead of his time, he had a brilliant mind, and exceptional oratorical skills. Another role model Hugh Crosskill Junior, a Jamaica College Abassador, he was revolutionary and a great  caribbean media pioneer who was without doubt ahead of the pack. Mr. Crosskill was a gentleman who I had correspondence with. He had advised me on matters regarding career development especially as it relates to the Caribbean and Jamaica this was before I started formal training in Communication.

I was at Broadcast school when Crosskill was forced to resign from his General Manager Job at RJR and was devastated when I heard the circumstances under which this had happened. From there on I did relegate him from role model status but was nonetheless saddened by his tragic death.

My favourite Jamaican talk show host is Barbara Gloudon and Wilmot "Mutty" Perkins. Gloudon is a real Jamaican at heart, she talks Jamaican, is charismatic, positive, and responsible as she makes no apology for her commitment to the rudiments of professional journalism/broadcasting. Perkins is a objective thinker with great knowledge about the history of the country and its politics.

My favourite Jamaican Media source is the Radio Jamaica Group, for its outstanding service to Quality broadcasting. They are undoubtedly a class team, and have been able to keep the organization’s name alive without sacrificing the product for any individual personality on staff that has come or gone by.
